Who we are
Crescent is made by Mistiq LLC. If you want to reach a person about anything on this page, write to [email protected].
What we collect
Birth details. A name, date, time and place of birth for each chart you save, including the coordinates and timezone we resolve the place to. This is the only way to cast a real chart, and it is the most sensitive thing we hold. It is encrypted at rest.
Account details. An email address and a password hash if you create an account, or the identifier your provider gives us if you sign in with Google or Apple. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
What you write. Questions you ask the astrologer and the answers you get, so the conversation has memory. Feedback you leave on a reading.
Purchases. If you subscribe, our payment processor handles the card. We store the subscription state, not the card number.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not share your birth details with advertisers. No ads are shown anywhere in the product: not on your chart, not on a reading, not on anything you pay for. Advertising is displayed only on the public Journal. Crescent does carry a measurement pixel used to tell whether an advertising campaign brought someone here, described below. Your chart, your readings and your questions are never sent to it, and nothing you enter into Crescent is used to build a marketing profile of you.
Using Crescent without an account
You can use Crescent anonymously. We create a session for your device so your charts persist, with no email attached. If you later create an account, that session is claimed and nothing is lost.
How readings are produced
Every position in your chart is computed by our own engine from astronomical data. To put a reading into words we send the computed placements, and your question, to a text-generation provider under a contract that forbids using it to train their models. We do not send your name, your email, or your birth place.
Advertising on the Journal
The Journal, our public articles, carries advertising from Google AdSense. The product itself does not: there are no ads on your chart, your readings, or anything you pay for.
Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of other vendors at aboutads.info. We do not pass your birth details, your questions, or anything from your chart to any advertiser, and nothing you enter into Crescent is used to target an ad.
Measuring our own advertising
When we run advertising campaigns we need to know which of them actually brought someone to Crescent. To measure that we load the Meta (Facebook) pixel, which records page views and sets two cookies: one identifying your browser, and one recording that you arrived from an ad if you did. This runs on the site generally rather than only on the Journal, because someone can arrive from an ad on any page.
When a purchase completes, our server tells Meta that a sale happened, along with the amount, the item bought, and those two cookie values so the sale can be matched to the campaign. If you have an email on your account, a one-way SHA-256 hash of it is included so Meta can match the sale to an account it already recognises. The plain email never leaves our servers. We never send your birth details, your birth place, your chart, your readings, or anything you have asked your astrologer.
You can limit this in your Meta ad preferences, and browser tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop the pixel from loading at all.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Deleting a chart removes its birth details and anything derived from it. Deleting your account removes everything, and we do it rather than flagging a row as hidden.
Your choices
You can delete any chart from the chart screen, and you can ask us to delete your whole account by writing to [email protected]. You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you. If you are in the UK, EU or California, you have specific rights over that data and we honour them wherever you are, because keeping two standards is worse than keeping one.
Children
Crescent is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
