CrescentNakshatra matching
Pick the Moon nakshatra of each person. Where a nakshatra crosses two signs, pick the Moon sign too, because four of the eight kootas are read from it. The score is worked out the same way as Crescent's full kundli match.
How nakshatra matching works
Ashtakoota, or guna milan, compares two people across eight kootas worth 36 points together. Four of them come from the nakshatra alone. Tara counts the nakshatras between the two birth stars in both directions. Yoni compares the animal each nakshatra is linked with. Gana compares temperament class, and Nadi checks whether the two nakshatras share a nadi, which tradition weighs most heavily.
The other four come from the Moon sign. Varna and Vashya read the sign's groups, Graha Maitri compares the planets ruling the two signs, and Bhakoot counts how far apart the signs sit. That is why this tool asks for the sign when a nakshatra spans two: the first pada of Krittika is in Aries and the other three are in Taurus, and the two can score differently.
Reading the score
The traditional bands read 18 as the floor for a match to be considered, 25 and above as strong and 32 and above as exceptional. A low koota is not a verdict. Two named doshas come from zero scores: Nadi dosha from the same nadi and Bhakoot dosha from certain sign distances, and each has classical cancellations, which the result checks and shows.
The eight kootas weigh temperament and family harmony as the tradition understood them. They say nothing about how two people treat each other, so Crescent presents the number as one lens for reflection.
What this cannot tell you
Two people with the same nakshatras get the same score here, whatever else their charts say. A full kundli match also looks for Mangal dosha, which is counted from the ascendant and needs a birth time.
