The planets and grahas

Planets are the actors of a chart. Where the signs describe a manner, the planets describe a drive: what wants to happen. Western astrology works with the Sun through Pluto; Vedic astrology, which Crescent also computes, works with the nine grahas and adds Rahu and Ketu, the two lunar nodes that carry no body at all.

Jupiter

The great benefic: growth, luck, wisdom, and abundance.

Jupiter expands whatever it touches, bringing opportunity, optimism, and a hunger for meaning. It rules higher learning, travel, and faith. Where it sits in your chart often marks an area of natural blessing and generosity, though it can also encourage excess.

Ketu

Mercury

Moon

Your inner emotional world: needs, moods, and what feels safe.

The Moon rules feelings, instincts, and the way you comfort and are comforted. In Vedic astrology it is especially important, anchoring the mind and the nakshatra. Its placement describes your emotional nature and what you need to feel at home.

Neptune

Dreams, imagination, spirituality, and illusion.

Neptune dissolves boundaries, inspiring art, compassion, and mystical longing. It can lift you toward the transcendent or blur the line between hope and reality. Its house shows where you are most inspired and where you may need to watch for confusion.

Pluto

Deep transformation, power, and rebirth.

Rahu

The Moon's north node: hunger, ambition, and this life's direction.

Rahu is a shadow point in Vedic astrology, not a physical planet but a mathematical node where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's. It represents worldly desire and the unfamiliar territory your soul is here to explore. It amplifies and obsesses, pulling you toward growth through craving.

Saturn

Sun

Uranus
